Base 3 visit Leicester
The children have had a great day exploring Leicester and learning about its history.
They started 2000 years ago at the Jewry Wall Museum, a site of some Roman baths. They then walked to the Guildhall and on about 1000 years through history to discover what buildings from the Middle Ages were like.
They then strolled around the centre of Leicester, through the market and past a few landmarks, before finishing at the Cathedral and the tomb of Richard III. Phew!
Non-Uniform Day
We had fun in our own clothes today, in exchange for bringing in prizes for the upcoming FOSS bingo!
Base 3 have been experimenting with monotype printing in art and we have loved the unpredictable results and the patterns that appear during the process.
Christmas Parties
Today we enjoyed our big Christmas dinner and then returned to school for fun and games at our Christmas parties, playing lots of games like pass the parcel and pin the nose on the snowman. Not long until the big day!
Year 6 we have been learning about the language and format of news reports. We have also been learning about fake news and AI generated content. We have written our own news reports and you can decide if you think they are genuine or not...
Massive thanks to the lovely elves who gave up their time to come into school today and help the children prepare wonderful gifts for family and friends. We love the elves!
The Christmas Tree festival in church is under construction and more trees appear every day. The Scalford School tree, covered with all our home-made decorations, is now in position near the bell tower.
What a fantastic couple of performances, both to a packed church. We feel very Christmassy now! Base 1 were brilliant on stage, Base 2 read beautifully and Base 3 provided glorious singing and bell-ringing. Thank you to everyone involved.
It's become a tradition at Scalford that every Friday in December is Christmas Jumper Day! We are really getting into the festive spirit now and we're looking forward to our Nativity....
What a great final day for our student Miss Register! She ran a Design and Technology day and the children all got to design and make a prototype fairground ride. The classroom was wonderful, colourful, excitable but industrious chaos - it was fantastic!
