Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We have had a fantastic day working in our house groups and exploring the Christian value of 'Endurance'. We have completed some minutely detailed art; we've learnt about Ernest Shackleton and constructed doo igloos from pasta, marsh mallows and bubble wrap; we've acted out a story and learnt a song; and we've completed a host of physical endurance challenges.
A bit of fundraising fun now that Y6 SATs are over and done with. Thank you for arranging a lovely day FOSS! A set of 10 rules were there to be broken for donations. Maybe you can guess what some of the rules were...
Some of our Y3 and Y4 pupils joined children from other local schools for a wonderful afternoon of cricket activities at Melton Cricket Club this afternoon!
Last Week, a teacher called Alex Godber from KGGS school in Grantham came to speak to one of our pupils who is moving there in September. It turned out that he had attended Scalford School and he left in 1987 (when the toilets were still outside!). We even found a photo of him in the school history book!
In Year 4 and 5 we have been learning about palm oil and sustainability. Children wrote to many food producers to ask if their palm oil was from sustainable sources. Yesterday, Chloe received this reply from Kellogg's!
The Y5 children have been busy completing their course yesterday and today and luckily the rain has held off!
David Attenborough's 100th Birthday
We celebrated this wonderful landmark by learning about our local wildlife. We looked at a wide variety of local moths, trapped by Mr Leonard. Releasing them and watching them fly off was also great fun. Then we had a wild flower treasure hunt, to open our eyes to the beautiful plants that are right under our noses, but often overlooked in corners of the field at the Village Hall. Lastly, we joined thousands of other children around the country for a special online assembly. Coincidentally, the picture of the moth on a wall (called a Chocolate-tip) represents the 100th moth species that we have recorded under the security light outside the Base 3 classroom!
What a way to have ended last term! Dancing, hot dogs, transfers and tattoos and a healthy dose of sugar! Thank you FOSS for everything you do! The school disco was epic 🙌
What wonderful final day of term! We were blown away by the high standard of entries in our annual Easter competitions. Base 1 created some fantastic bonnets, Base 2 some beautiful cards and Base 3 the most incredible array of decorated eggs. We rounded off the day and the term with a packed Easter Service and lots of songs, readings and recorders. Happy holidays everyone!
It's so lovely to be able to get the sand and water tables out and let the Reception children explore the concepts of 'full', 'empty' and 'half full' in the spring sunshine!
