  Base 2 Roman Day

  The children braved the Mediterranean heat to become Romans for a day at the Village Hall, having great fun learning about soldiers, weapons, buildings, food, money and medicine. The day was run by former Scalford pupil, Jed Jaggard! 🙌

  This week, we tackled the intense heat by retreating to church in the afternoons. With its space and huge thick stone walls, it was a lovely, cool refuge. It also made a nice change!

  

• Base 3 Production

  Base 3 put on a production of 'The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse' this week - a story of resilience, kindness and friendship that meant a lot to us (although it is set in snow - something we could only dream about in the searing heat!). The children worked incredibly hard and should be very proud of their beautiful and moving performance. 

  

• Base 2 Art

  The children in Base 2 have been having a brilliant time, making characters from Roald Dahl's 'Dirty Beasts' using air-drying clay. They also used marbling ink to create a beautiful base for their work.  

  

• Sports Day

  Thank you to everyone who came and supported this wonderful afternoon. We were so lucky with the weather and we witnessed some amazing performances and tremendous sportsmanship and team spirit. Congratulations to St Peter's for winning.

  

• Bug Hunt

  Last week, as part of their Science, Base 3 went on a bug hunt around the Village Hall. The children found a huge variety of invertebrates from ladybird larvae to weevils, parasitic wasps to snails, several species of bee and spider, lacewings, butterflies, earwigs and much more!

  This week they will be using keys to identify them from the photos they took.

  

• Messy Fiesta - Endurance

  We have had a fantastic day working in our house groups and exploring the Christian value of 'Endurance'. We have completed some minutely detailed art; we've learnt about Ernest Shackleton and constructed doo igloos from pasta, marsh mallows and bubble wrap; we've acted out a story and learnt a song; and we've completed a host of physical endurance challenges.
