Always trying to do our best so that we can shine

Y5/6 Residential - PGL Caythorpe

Day one - we arrived in excellent time and enjoyed a lovely relaxed picnic on a huge field with lots of space to burn off energy. After sorting out our rooms and having a tour of the site we enjoyed a slap-up tea and then were faced with the 'Splash!" challenge in which we had to construct a protective case for a water balloon that was then dropped from the climbing wall tower. But did we manage to keep the balloons in tact?

Day two has been amazing. (And amazingly wet!) The kids have been fab again and have not complained about the weather at all. We've been in the tunnels, along the zip wire, up Jacob's ladder and an enormous climbing wall. We've also had some delicious birthday brownies from Mrs Gilchrist. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FINLEY!

Day three began with a whole morning in kayaks and thankfully the rain began to ease. By the end of the session everyone had mastered the basics, some were experts and of course we were all very dry... In the afternoon we went abseiling and orienteering and the sun came out!

Day four has been as busy as all the others, brginning with raft-building and aeroball in the morning. After lunch we went on the GIANT SWING and did some archery. The weather has been kind to us and the occasional windy squall has brought a few highly-prized conkers to the ground.

Day five started with an incredible effort packing up and tidying dorms. We were left with just a single unclaimed sock that appeared to have been from a previous group anyway - surely some sort of record! Our activities were fencing and the vertical challenge and then we said our farewells before heading home for a much needed weekend rest. Well done all - a cracking week!
