Base 3 visit the National Holocaust Centre
Base 3 had a very engaging trip to this fascinating facility. We learnt about the everyday lives of Jews in 1930s Germany, at home, at school and at work. We also learnt about how they were badly treated and how many either hid from the Nazis, or fled the country. We focused in particular on children who were sent to England on the 'Kindertransport'. We looked at many historical artefacts, including one of Anne Frank's napkins. After lunch we listened to a short talk given by a Holocaust survivor about what it had been like arriving in England as a child with no parents.
